Watched the Unrivaled Earnhardt vs Gordon documentary last night for the first time.
I will say I’m not really a long time, die hard fan of NASCAR. I watched and followed very casually for a lot of years, and when Jeff Gordon was just coming up is when I started paying more attention. And though I never considered myself a true Dale fan-admittedly Gordon was who really sparked my interest at the time-I thoroughly enjoyed the rivalry. My interest has come and gone over the years since. But I really enjoyed the show. I got the sense that it was really like an identity-demographic almost sort of thing. Dale seemed to have fans that were more classical good ol boy, southern “redneck” OG sorts. And Gordon seemed to capture kind of anyone not that? But lacking the historical knowledge-I’d be willing to bet a fair sum of money that those two dude were good friends-at least off the track. Really enjoyed that movie. submitted by /u/PhoenixChuck [link] [comments]
